Kevin Spacey: “I Hope Scorsese Calls Me”

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Kevin Spacey expressed hope that Martin Scorsese might collaborate with him on a future project while attending the Lucca Film Festival, where his historical film 1780 premiered for the first time.
The disgraced House of Cards and The Usual Suspects actor thanked Franco Nero, who cast him in The Man Who Drew God (L’uomo che disegnò Dio): “He called me when no one else would, and said this film is just the appetizer.”

Spacey is set to return to Rome in The Contract, an Italian-financed production, and will also star later this fall in a new series titled Minimarket for Italy’s RaiPlay streaming platform.
When asked which filmmakers he would like to work with, Spacey mentioned Luca Guadagnino, Paolo Sorrentino, and Alice Rohrwacher, adding: “And I’d like to include Martin Scorsese. I’m always hoping he’ll call me.”
However, it seems highly unlikely that the Goodfellas director would reach out to an actor accused of sexual misconduct, and even if he wished to, studios might oppose the idea.
The Oscar-winning American Beauty star was accused of sexual assault in 2017 and subsequently fired from House of Cards. He has since appeared in only a handful of projects. Spacey has said that he came close to bankruptcy and losing his home, but after being acquitted in court cases held in New York and London in 2022 and 2023, more filmmakers have reportedly shown interest in working with him again.
